Mike Mangione & the Union

Mike Mangione & the Union is a group of six musicians involving cello, violin, electric upright bass, trap kit and guitars.  Mike has been known to play solo but prefers the company of the others on stage.  The band combines acoustic soul with orchestrated strings, some folk, some pop and a lot of love.

PRESS:

“Like a less-raspy Ray LaMontagne, or perhaps a huskier Jason Isbell, Milwaukee singer-songwriter Mike Mangione’s got that soul thang going on in his voice … it’s a little bit Leonard Cohen, a little bit Jeff Buckley, and maybe even a little bit Van Morrison, too.” -Fred Mills, Blurt Magazine

“Mangione’s vocals can be heart-breakingly delicate at times, comparable to how James Blunt only wishes he could sound.” -Chris Kreklin, OnMilwaukee.com

Praise for 2008’s Tenebrae:
“Song of the week, You Don’t Wanna Leave” -New York Magazine
“Top ten best albums of the year” -Illinois Entertainer
“8 out 10” -Americana UK
“7 out of 10” -Blurt Magazine
